OCD
Trigger warning: Mental health, OCD, contamination, asbestos.
I'm on holiday from work (school holidays, as I'm a teacher).
I also have OCD (health / contamination related anxiety, especially relating to the health and safety of our children).
I've been doing some necessary DIY in our house. This is probably a trigger in its own right, but I think mental space from work also 'frees up' capacity for anxiety and worry. In this instance, I've been worrying (in an obsessive sense) about the possibility of asbestos in the walls (which I have already drilled in the past and which, ideally, I need to work on further for some minimal repairs).
Working on the garden seems to have helped with my mental state. I will try to get out for a bike ride in the sun today too.
Working towards accepting uncertainty and moving away from an all-or-nothing mentality (with the condition of the house, health, 'goodness' etc.) is my medium-term goal. I need to accept (and enjoy) imperfection.
The walls might not even contain asbestos.
